Las Vegas Sweepstakes Winner

From Lucky Bowler to High Roller

Robert Guibord Hits the Jackpot in April's SSBC Sweepstakes

Las Vegas Screen"VIP treatment" is a loosely used term in today's world of over-hyped marketing and promotions. What's considered "VIP treatment" for one may not be for another, until you consider April's Silver Strike Bowler's Club grand prize "VIP" Las Vegas vacation!

Roundtrip airfare for two with private limousine transfers, four nights in a penthouse suite at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, a twilight helicopter tour, VIP credentials to Vegas’ hottest nightclubs and $3,000 spending money. How's that for "VIP"?

Thousands of VIP-wannabes played millions of games of Silver Strike Bowler's Club in April hoping to win the vacation package. The lucky winner was announced April 27 and for the second straight month a virtual bowler from the Milwaukee area took home the prize! This time it was 41-year-old Robert Guibord from the small southwest suburb of Greenfield that was named the next SSBC sweepstakes legend!

Robert GuibordRobert says that he was in disbelief when he first heard the news about winning the "VIP" Vegas trip. "I swiped my player card to play SSB one night and a screen popped up that said 'You Won'. I didn't believe it," the graphic artist explained. "I checked the website right away to confirm and I still didn't really believe my eyes."

Thinking it was just too good to be true, Robert suspected that foul play was afoot. "First thing I thought was that this somehow had to be a scam. It's not often that you just win something with no strings attached. I was waiting for someone to call and tell me that instead of a VIP Vegas trip, I won a VIP bowling towel or something," he joked. "When I actually found out what the VIP trip entailed, I was floored."

While he's been to Vegas twice in his life, Robert doesn't consider himself a "high roller" in any sense of the word. "The last time I went to Vegas I stayed at the Frontier," he said. "This is one hell of a step up! It's just awesome," he exclaimed. "I know it's real, but I'm still in denial."

Paulos PizzaRobert bowled his winning game at Paulo's Pizza in Greenfield where he can be found playing Silver Strike Bowling with his pals two or three nights a week. "I'm a big fan of the game because it's fun and fast," Robert said. " I actually came in third this year in our weekly Paulo's Pizza league."

The sweepstakes gives Robert an extra incentive to play the game outside of the weekly league and casual rounds with his friends. "It's a nice bonus," Robert said about the national sweepstakes. "I actually owe Paulo's bar manager, Fred, for getting me to start swiping my player card. He said 'You just might win something!' and sure enough, I did!"

Robert could have really said "thank you" by offering Fred his extra ticket to Sin City, but the lucky bowler has decided to take his brother-in-law, Mark Lubenow, as his guest instead.

While his trip isn't on the books just yet, Robert intends on cashing it in sometime this fall. "The fall is a perfect time of year for me to get away," he said. "Plus Vegas won't be so hot by then."

In the meantime, Robert will continue playing Silver Strike Bowler's Club and hope that sweepstakes lightning will strike Paulo's Pizza a second time. "I won once, so anything is possible," he said.
