No longer will the back roads of Nashville feel the tires of a very exhausted '97 Ford Probe. Sure it got her from point A to B (at least some of the time), but Jessica Garrett's legendary Silver Strike sweepstakes triumph goes much deeper then awarding her a desperately needed automobile.
Jessica bowled only a handful of Silver Strike games at her favorite local hangout, Goodtime Charlie's, in her hometown Hendersonville Tennessee. She nailed a few strikes, but didn't think about the May Sweepstakes; after all with only 14 entries what were her chances?
14 out of 1,691,490 to be exact, and Jessica certainly made the most of her trackball encounters. She joined the growing list of Sweepstakes winners, and took home a 2008 Jeep Wrangler.
"This kind of stuff doesn't happen to me," said Jessica, who still remains pleasantly shocked over the win. "A new car would have been unbelievable, but winning a Jeep is perfect."
Jeeps are in Jessica's DNA. Her father always owned one (usually a Wrangler), and took pride in his cars, while also sharing that enjoyment with his children. One of Jessica's fondest childhood memories is when her father would take her and her two sisters out for a joyride. "He always drove a Jeep, and as kids we loved it when the three of us would ride along with him. Every time I see a Jeep I immediately think of him."
Just last year, Jessica's father passed away. With this unbelievable win his love and passion for the vehicle will live on through his daughter; who will carry on his legacy while beginning one of her own.
Along with the family ties to the Jeep, Jessica can't wait to ditch her fading Ford Probe. Gone will bethe duct-taped back bumper, and the rapidly fading paint job. Even worse the car has gotten to the point where she's had to avoid highways at all costs. "The car will just quit on me once and a while, and it won't start back up again," joked Jessica. "I'd rather it happen on the back roads going thirty, then on the freeway going eighty."
Bosses and friends take note. When Jessica is awarded the car on July 16th at Looy's in Hendersonville, the excuses should diminish as well. No longer will she be late to work, or use her car as the reason for why she can't be the designated driver.
Sorry Jessica, but on the bright side you'll look awfully good cruising around town in your brand new Jeep.
