The first monthly Bowlapalooza contest has come and gone, and now players are taking the week to rest up for the June Headliner that kicks off on Monday, June 1st.
Before we can move on, however, let's take a look at how the May Opener finished up.
At the top of the leaderboard, no one was able to catch Indianapolis' Ron Hammersley. The 67-year-old rolled, ending up with a 295.52 average, and even managed to lengthen his lead in the final days! For his outstanding bowling, he took home the top prize of $1,000.
"That is the best I have ever played in a long stretch," Ron said on winning the May Opener. "I still can't believe that I was able to put the amount of games together that I did. My timing was just right, and I'm still not quite sure how I managed to roll this good. I know it won't last forever, so I'm definitely going to enjoy this."
Nebraska's Rob Wright grabbed the second spot ($500) while Indy sharpshooter Del "Deadeye" Flecker came in third and won $300. A total of 200 players managed to make the cut with 232.48 being the last average to make the money. Any player who played well enough to make the final list should have their winnings in their player account right now! Use this money to get your games in for the June Headliner!
If you want to cash out your winnings, you must have a web account. For information on creating a web account be sure to visit the Registration Page.
With a few more days left before Bowlapalooza kicks up again, you'd think our top bowler would be taking a few days off, right? Not Ron Hammersley.
"Today I actually rolled a 300 game, and a 797 series," the SSB veteran said. "I won't play nearly as much as I was but I want to stay hot, and to stay hot I have to keep playing. I'm going to ride this wave as long as I can."
Ron can't wait for the next June contest can start and neither can we. Stay tuned to Silverstrikebowling.com to find out why Ron and his hometown Beechgrove, Indiana are quickly becoming the hotbed of SSB!
Enjoy the days off Silver Strikers, the fun starts up all over again June 1st!
