Big Mac Putting Up Big Scores

Lloyd McFarland and the Sheboygan Bowling Crew Are Ready to Roll in the July Jam!

LLoyd McFarlandThere is probably no one more geared up and ready for the July Jam than 2008 SSB Nationals runner-up Lloyd "Mac" McFarland. The Sheboygan, Wisconsin native has lived up to his billing as one of the premier bowlers in the country. After coming in 11th in the Bowlapalooza May Opener, Lloyd followed that up with an impressive second place finish in the June Headliner.

"I was not too pleased with the amount of games I played or my scores in the first contest," Lloyd said. "I knew I had to redeem myself in the second contest, and I think I did that even though I came up a little short of first.

Lloyd's 289.32 average and eight 300-games were good for the silver medal in the June Headliner! Indiana's Ron Hammersley successfully defended his Bowlapalooza title once again, besting Mac by less than five pins.

"Ron has just been on fire for the last two months," Lloyd said. "I thought I might be able to catch him in the middle of the contest, but as the days winded down he just didn't let up. He's rolled multiple 300-games in the same day and has really been on his game."

Still, Lloyd believes that a Bowlapalooza win could be in his future, thanks in part to the competitive Silver Strike in the Sheboygan, Wisconsin area. Four players out of Sheboygan finished in the top thirty-five - Lloyd McFarland (289.32) second place, Jared Romanoski (261.64) 18th place, Lucas Oppeneer (260.60) 21st place, and Ryan Lehmann (254.48) 34th place.

"We play in leagues and we compete against one another even when there isn't an event like Bowlapalooza going on," Lloyd said. "When you play against the best, it forces you to raise your game in order to compete. This has had a real positive effect on everyone's SSB game in the area."

Look for the Sheboygan bowlers to be out in full force for the July Jam, which runs from July 1st to July 25th, especially Big Mac. "After a few days off, my body is rested and I'm really ready to bowl again," Lloyd said. "Hopefully a Bowlapalooza title is next."
