Bowlapalooza Wrap Up

Who Did What, A Recap of Our Four Competitive Monthly Bowl-Offs!

Bowlapalooza has come and gone, but what a summer it was.

It's hard to believe that the fun started all the way back in May. Summer was just getting started and baseball had barely gotten underway. Now, football is ready to get cracking and the leaves are beginning to turn. Where did the time go?

Here's a look back at how the action unfolded, and how each of our four monthly contests went down.

May Opener

Bowlapalooza kicked off with the May Opener, and the first monthly contest ended in a rout. Beech Grove, Indiana's Ron Hammersley was the story here, ending the month with a 295 plus average. The 67-year-old beat every other bowler by nearly ten full pins! Nebraska's Rob Wright came in second, while Indianapolis bowler "Deadeye" Del Flecker finished third.

June Headliner

While the leaderboard certainly tightened up, the outcome at the top remained the same in the June Headliner. Ron Hammersley won his second consecutive Bowlapalooza title thanks to a 294.08 average. Sheboygan bowler and runner-up at the 2008 SSB Nationals, Lloyd McFarland, came in second with a 289.32 average and gave a preview of things to come.

July Jam

With two of the four monthly contests in the books, a new name steam rolled to the top of the leaderboard. After his second place finish in the June Headliner, Lloyd McFarland followed it up with a first place finish in the July Jam with his 289.92 average. Nebraska's Rob Wright grabbed his second silver medal of Bowlapalooza with a 287.56 average, while Ron Hammersley came in fifth.

August Encore

The final contest was without a doubt the most exciting, and Del Flecker even flirted with perfection. Flecker finished the August Encore in first with an unbelievable 298 average – a Bowlapalooza best! Ron Hammersley was right behind with a 296.48 average and Rob Wright grabbed his fourth top five finish of the event with a 298.28 average.

What a stretch of SSB! Congratulations to all of our winners, and thanks to everyone that participated in this unbelievable four-month event!
